Alyssa Healy marked the start of her final series before retirement with a half-century as Australia cruised to a six-wicket win over India in the first one-day international.
Opening the batting, Healy scored 50 off 70 balls as Australia chased 215 with 11.4 overs remaining at Allan Border Field in Brisbane.
Beth Mooney contributed a fluent 76 from 79 balls, while all-rounder Annabel Sutherland remained unbeaten on 48, finishing the chase with a six off Deepti Sharma.
The remaining two matches of the series will take place in Hobart on Friday and Sunday.
Australia had lost the recent T20 series to India, marking their first home defeat in nine years.
Healy said, “A little bit was put on us about how we were going to bounce back. To come out and play the way we did today was clinical. I’m proud of the group.”
India’s innings of 214 all out featured half-centuries from captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana, while Kashvee Gautam added 43 from number eight.
Off-spinner Ash Gardner took 3-33, and seamer Megan Schutt claimed 2-42 to help Australia secure the win.
