The driver involved in the car crash that injured Anthony Joshua appeared in court in Nigeria on Wednesday.
The accident on 29 December near Lagos claimed the lives of Joshua’s personal trainer, Latif Ayodele, and strength coach, Sina Ghami. Joshua, 36, was hospitalized but later discharged after treatment for his injuries.
The driver, 46-year-old Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, faces multiple charges including causing death by dangerous driving, reckless and negligent driving, driving without due care, and operating a vehicle without a valid license.
During the hearing at Sagamu Magistrates Court in Ogun State, near Lagos, the case was adjourned to 13 March to give prosecutors additional time to prepare evidence.
Kayode, making his second court appearance, has not yet entered a plea.
The crash occurred on the busy Lagos-Ibadan expressway. Both Ayodele and Ghami were pronounced dead at the scene, while Joshua was hospitalized and discharged two days later.
