KATIE TAYLOR has confirmed she will retire from professional boxing after one final fight in Dublin later this year.

Hoping for a Croke Park Send-OffOpponent and Date Yet to Be ConfirmedA Legendary Career

The undisputed light-welterweight champion, now 39, has not stepped into the ring since winning her trilogy bout against Amanda Serrano in New York last July. That victory further cemented her legacy as one of the greatest female fighters of all time.

Hoping for a Croke Park Send-Off

Taylor has made it clear that she wants her final bout to take place in Dublin, with Croke Park at the top of her wish list.

Speaking to Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ), Taylor said:

“I just want to fight in Dublin to end my career. Obviously we’re still hoping for Croke Park. We’re hanging on to a bit of hope that it can happen.”

If Croke Park is unavailable, other venues such as the 3Arena or the Aviva Stadium remain options.

August could be a realistic date for a Croke Park fight, as the stadium hosts the latter stages of the All-Ireland Hurling and Football Championships throughout July.

Opponent and Date Yet to Be Confirmed

Details about her final opponent, the official date, and venue are still to be announced.

In September, Taylor was named “Champion in Recess” by the World Boxing Council after informing the body she planned to take time away from the sport.

Recently, Britain’s Sandy Ryan claimed the vacant WBC belt with a win over Mexico’s Karla Ramos Zamora in Nottingham.

A Legendary Career

Taylor holds a professional record of 25 wins and one defeat. Her only loss came against Chantelle Cameron in Dublin in 2023 — a defeat she later avenged to become a two-weight undisputed champion.

Her rivalry with Amanda Serrano has been one of the defining chapters of women’s boxing. Taylor defeated Serrano in April 2022 before securing further wins in November 2024 and July 2025.

Before turning professional in 2016, Taylor won Olympic lightweight gold at the 2012 London Olympics, helping transform the profile of women’s boxing worldwide.

Despite announcing her retirement plans, Taylor says she remains fully focused:

“I’m not sure who the opponent is or what the date will be. I just know I’ll fight this year during the summertime. I’m staying sharp and ready.”

As fans await official confirmation of her farewell fight, one thing is certain — Katie Taylor’s final bout will mark the end of an extraordinary era in Irish and global boxing.
