Mayor Femke Halsema described the incident as a deliberate attack against the Jewish community.

The explosion caused limited damage to the outer wall of the school. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Mayor Condemns the Attack

Mayor Halsema strongly condemned the incident. She called it a cowardly act directed at the Jewish community.

She also stressed that Amsterdam must remain a safe place for Jewish residents.

“I understand the fear and anger among Jewish Amsterdammers,” she said. She added that rising antisemitism is unacceptable.

Emergency Services Respond Quickly

Dutch firefighters and police arrived quickly at the scene after the explosion. Local media reported that emergency teams secured the area and began an investigation.

Police are reviewing CCTV footage from nearby cameras. Reports suggest the video may show a person placing explosives near the building.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the identity of any suspects.

Security Concerns Growing

Security around Jewish institutions in the Netherlands had already increased. This followed a suspected arson attack on a synagogue in Rotterdam earlier in the week.

Officials remain concerned about possible threats to Jewish communities worldwide.

These concerns have grown after recent military strikes involving Israel and the United States against Iran.

Investigation Underway

Police have launched a full investigation into the explosion. Authorities are examining evidence and surveillance footage to determine what happened.

So far, officials have not publicly confirmed the motive behind the attack.

City leaders say they will continue working to ensure the safety of all communities in Amsterdam.
