Bam Adebayo scored 83 points, the second-highest in NBA history, as the Miami Heat defeated the Washington Wizards 150-129.
The center called passing Kobe Bryant’s 81-point record from 2006 a “special moment.” Only Wilt Chamberlain’s 100-point game in 1962 remains higher.
Adebayo made 36 of 43 free-throws, setting records for both most free-throws attempted and made at the Kaseya Center.
“It’s Wilt, me, then Kobe, which sounds crazy,” Adebayo said. He described the achievement as emotional and wished he could relive it.
Paying tribute to his family and trainers, he said: “They’ve seen me at the lowest… To have this moment and share it with all of them, it’s a pretty emotional moment.”
Elsewhere, the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 120-106. Luka Doncic contributed 31 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists. The Lakers now sit fourth in the Western Conference.
In the East, the Detroit Pistons defeated the Brooklyn Nets 138-100, with Jalen Duren scoring 26 points.
