The popularity of TV content designed specifically for dogs has grown rapidly in recent years. Pet owners are increasingly turning to these videos to keep their dogs calm and entertained when left alone.

Why TV for Dogs Is GrowingDo Dogs Actually Watch TV?A Growing Pet Care Trend

The trend began gaining attention when Luca Carano created a YouTube channel called Siesta Dog TV for his dog, Luna. While living in Barcelona, Carano wanted to find a way to keep his pet relaxed during short periods alone at home.

Instead of searching endlessly, he created his own solution. His videos feature animated dogs, nature scenes, and calming environments designed specifically for canine vision. Since dogs see colors differently than humans, the visuals often focus on shades of blue and yellow, which dogs can perceive more clearly.

Many videos run for hours, sometimes up to 10 hours, and include soft, classical-style or ambient music. The goal is to reduce stress and create a soothing atmosphere for pets.

Carano says he noticed a positive reaction from his own dog. He also received feedback from viewers who claimed their pets became calmer when watching the videos. One of his videos has even reached millions of views, showing strong interest in this niche content.

Why TV for Dogs Is Growing

Experts believe this trend reflects changing attitudes toward pets. According to Nicholas Dodman, people now treat dogs more like family members. As a result, they worry more about their pets’ emotional well-being.

Separation anxiety in dogs has also gained more attention. Many owners look for ways to reduce stress when they leave their pets alone, and dog-friendly TV has become one of the solutions.

As demand increases, more channels now offer similar content. Platforms feature everything from playful puppy scenes to looping visuals of animals, toys, and outdoor environments. Some videos even include close-ups of squirrels or birds to capture dogs’ attention.

Do Dogs Actually Watch TV?

While many owners report positive results, experts remain cautious. Dogs may not watch TV the same way humans do. However, they can respond to movement, sound, and certain colors on the screen.

The calming effect may come less from “watching” and more from the background noise and visual stimulation. These elements can help reduce loneliness and create a sense of comfort.

A Growing Pet Care Trend

The rise of TV for dogs highlights how pet care continues to evolve. Owners now explore creative ways to improve their pets’ quality of life, especially when they cannot be present.

Although research continues, one thing is clear: dog-focused content is becoming a popular tool for managing pet anxiety and keeping animals relaxed at home.
