Workers Not Impressed Dystopian Feeling Job Cuts Expected

Workers not impressed, one Meta employee, who asked not identified, telling BBC having actions train AI models felt “very dystopian” workers expected slew additional job cuts.

Meta has laid off around 2,000 employees year. April company told employees planned cut 10% workforce roughly 8,000 staff.

Another person recently left company told BBC tracking tool “just latest way they’re shoving AI down everyone’s throat.”

Internal memo seen Reuters reportedly authored Stephane Kasriel, vice president Meta’s Superintelligence Labs unit.

Said team behind MCI introduced “several optimizations” reduce impact laptop battery life. Change came after reports employees finding tool consumed much data causing internet usage surge working from home.

“While we remain confident privacy protections we put place at launch, which went through several layers risk review, we have heard your concerns about personal data work devices, battery life, wanting more control when capturing happens,” Kasriel said memo.
