Brazil’s Laura Cardoso etched her name in cricket history. The 21-year-old seamer claimed nine wickets in a T20 international against Lesotho—first ever in the format. She finished with stunning figures of 9-4 in three overs.
Lesotho collapsed for 13 chasing Brazil’s 203. Cardoso demolished them in 6.2 overs. She surpassed Bhutan’s Sonam Yeshey (8-7 vs Myanmar, 2025) and Indonesia’s Rohmalia Rohmalia (7-0 vs Mongolia, 2024).
Cardoso started with five straight wickets across two overs, leaving Lesotho reeling at 8-5. She added four more, including two maidens. Marianne Artur’s stumping denied her perfect 10-for.
Cricket Brasil president Roberta Moretti watched from first slip. “Laura can play elite cricket in England and Australia,” Moretti predicted. “She rose through our grassroots with incredible work ethic.”
Brazil stays unbeaten at the six-team Kalahari Women’s T20 in Gaborone, Botswana.
