The England Lionesses prepare to host Ukraine at Everton’s new Hill Dickinson Stadium in a Women’s World Cup qualifier.

The England Lionesses will make history by becoming the first England team to play at Everton’s new Hill Dickinson Stadium. They will host Ukraine women’s football team in a Women’s World Cup qualifier on Tuesday, 9 June.

England’s Qualifying JourneyExcitement in Liverpool

Hill Dickinson Stadium opened last summer and is already a host venue for Euro 2028. It is also on the shortlist for the UK’s 2035 Women’s World Cup bid.

Scotland will also use the stadium, playing the Ivory Coast on 31 March to prepare for the men’s World Cup this summer.


England’s Qualifying Journey

Sarina Wiegman’s squad, two-time European champions, aim to secure a spot at the 2027 Women’s World Cup. They are in Group A3 with Spain, Ukraine, and Iceland.

Upcoming fixtures:

  • 3 March – Ukraine v England (17:00 GMT) in Turkey

  • 7 March – England v Iceland (12:30 GMT) at City Ground

  • 14 April – England v Spain (19:00 GMT) at Wembley Stadium

  • 18 April – Iceland v England (TBC)

  • 5 June – Spain v England (TBC)

  • 9 June – England v Ukraine (20:00 GMT) at Hill Dickinson Stadium


Excitement in Liverpool

Wiegman said:

“It is very exciting for us to play for the first time at Everton’s new stadium. Bringing this team around the country is important, and we look forward to playing in front of fans in the north-west. Liverpool has a rich football history and many connections to the Lionesses. It will be a very special evening.”

The fixture marks a milestone for England women’s football and highlights the growing importance of regional venues in major tournaments.
