WNBA Expands to 18 Teams by 2030
WNBA approved Cleveland, Detroit, and Philadelphia franchises. The league grows to 18 teams by 2030. Cleveland debuts 2028, followed by Detroit (2029) and Philadelphia (2030).
Golden State Valkyries joined 2025. Toronto Tempo and Portland Fire arrive this year. The 2026 season starts May 8, ending September 24.
