Nottingham Forest’s global head of football, Edu, has been asked to stay away from the club’s training ground amid growing uncertainty about his future.

BBC Sport reported that Edu’s role at the City Ground is under close internal review following Forest’s difficult season. The club sits 17th in the Premier League, level on points with West Ham and only above the relegation zone on goal difference.

Edu, 47, has not been present at Forest’s last three matches, against Fenerbahce, Brighton, and Manchester City. While the club declined to comment, sources close to Forest say Edu continues to work in his role as usual.

Forest began the season under Nuno Espirito Santo and are now under their fourth manager, Vitor Pereira. Nuno’s departure was reportedly linked to a breakdown in relations with Edu, a fate shared by predecessors Ange Postecoglou and Sean Dyche. Pereira has yet to secure a Premier League win since his appointment last month and faces the challenge of keeping Forest in the top flight.

Edu has played a central role in the club’s player recruitment, with nearly £200m spent on new signings since summer. However, Forest’s poor league position has raised internal questions about his performance. Sources indicate Edu could leave the club before next season, though Forest insist no decision has been made.

The situation highlights ongoing tensions behind the scenes as Nottingham Forest aim to stabilize on and off the pitch.
