Nottingham Forest have asked their global head of football, Edu, to stay away from the club’s training ground amid growing uncertainty over his future.

The executive’s role at the City Ground is under significant internal review following Forest’s poor season, with the team 17th in the Premier League, level on points with West Ham, and safe from relegation only on goal difference.

Edu, 47, has reportedly been absent from Forest’s last three games against Fenerbahce, Brighton, and Manchester City. While the club has declined to comment, sources close to the club insist that Edu continues to carry out his duties.

Forest began the season under Nuno Espirito Santo, and the squad is now under their fourth manager of the campaign, Vitor Pereira, who has yet to secure a Premier League win. Previous managerial departures, including Nuno, Ange Postecoglou, and Sean Dyche, were influenced by strained relations with Edu.

Edu has played a key role in player recruitment, with Forest spending close to £200m on new signings since summer. However, the club’s low league position has sparked internal concerns about his performance.

Recent reports suggest Edu could leave the club before next season, although the club denies this. Regardless, his position remains under intense scrutiny as the campaign enters its final weeks.
