Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban convened an emergency National Defence Council meeting. Serbian forces discovered explosives near a pipeline carrying Russian gas to Hungary. The find occurred in Serbia’s border region just days before Hungary’s crucial election.

Serbian President Alexander Vucic alerted Orban Sunday morning. Army units uncovered two rucksacks packed with powerful explosives and detonators near Tresnjevac village in Kanjiza district. The site sits 20km from where TurkStream crosses into Hungary.deccanherald+1

Orban’s Fidesz party trails badly in polls. Opposition leader Peter Magyar accuses him of panic-mongering orchestrated by Russian advisers. Security experts recently warned of possible false flag operations blamed on Ukraine.

Orban resists EU pressure to ditch Russian energy despite Ukraine invasion. Hungary receives 5-8 billion cubic meters yearly through TurkStream, vital for Hungary and Slovakia. Vojvodina Hungarian Association president Balint Pasztor claims the plot aimed to topple Orban.

Fidesz campaigns on Ukrainian hostility and cheap Russian fuel. Orban blames a “Kyiv-Brussels-Berlin” axis for blocking energy and pushing puppet leader Magyar. He claims a Tisza government would drag Hungary into European war against Russia.

Ukraine halted Russian oil via Druzhba pipeline since January, citing Russian damage. Repairs expected mid-April.
