Police charge a fourth man in the mistaken identity kidnap murder of Sydney grandfather Chris Baghsarian.

Authorities grabbed 85-year-old widower Chris Baghsarian from his North Ryde home in a pre-dawn raid two months ago. They found his body near a golf course two weeks later.

A 19-year-old teenager faced arrest on Tuesday. Police charged him with murder and taking or detaining someone in company with intent to ransom, causing actual bodily harm. The court denied him bail. He appears in court Wednesday.

Three other men in their 20s face similar charges. Investigators expect more arrests. They believe up to nine people took part.

Key Timeline of the Mistaken Identity Kidnap Murder

  • February 13, 5:00 AM: Men bundled Baghsarian into an SUV outside his home. Footage captured the raid.

  • Following days: Images surfaced in Sydney’s underworld. They showed the injured grandfather in his pyjamas.

  • Police response: Officers made public pleas. Baghsarian needed daily medication for health issues.

  • Body discovery: Found in north-west Sydney.

  • Arrests:

    • Day after discovery: Police charged two men, aged 29 and 24, with kidnap and murder (source).

    • Last month: A 23-year-old faced charges for kidnap, murder, firearms, and drugs. Police called him a key figure (source).

Baghsarian had no criminal ties. His family lived nearby a home linked to organized crime. Attackers targeted the wrong address.

His family shared touching words: “Deeply loved, gentle, and the kindest person we know—someone who would never hurt a fly.”

Police continue their probe into this mistaken identity kidnap murder. More details may emerge soon.
