Authorities in San Francisco have arrested a 20-year-old man after he allegedly threw a Molotov cocktail at the residence of Sam Altman, setting a perimeter gate on fire.
Police responded quickly to an emergency call from the North Beach area early Friday morning. Although officers did not officially identify the homeowner, a spokesperson from OpenAI confirmed that the property belonged to Altman.
The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived. However, about an hour later, he appeared outside an OpenAI office in the city. According to police, he threatened to burn down the building. Officers then arrested him at the scene.
Officials confirmed that no one suffered injuries during the incident. OpenAI expressed gratitude for the swift response from local law enforcement and emphasized the importance of employee safety.
The case remains under investigation, and authorities have not yet confirmed whether they will file formal charges.
