Four-time Max Verstappen will fulfill a “bucket list” ambition by competing in the prestigious Nurburgring 24-Hours endurance race in May.
The 28-year-old Red Bull F1 driver will pilot a Mercedes AMG GT car on the legendary 15.8-mile Nordschleife circuit in Germany’s Eifel mountains. The event features showroom-style cars racing around one of the world’s most challenging tracks.
“The Nurburgring Nordschleife is a special place. There’s no other track like it,” Verstappen said. “The 24-Hours of Nurburgring has been on my bucket list for a long time, so I’m thrilled to make it happen now.”
Despite his elite F1 status, Verstappen has long enjoyed sportscar racing and motorsport simulation games, showing a genuine passion for endurance events. Participating in the Nurburgring 24-Hours is a rare move for an active Formula 1 driver, but it reflects his growing interest in sportscar competition.
Motorsport fans speculate that Verstappen could one day race at the Le Mans 24-Hours, which has seen renewed popularity with the introduction of hypercar regulations, attracting manufacturers like Ferrari, Aston Martin, Peugeot, and Ford.
Verstappen remains under contract with Red Bull until 2028. The Nurburgring 24-Hours will take place on 16–17 May, between the Miami Grand Prix and Canadian Grand Prix.
This marks a unique opportunity for fans to see one of the world’s top F1 drivers tackle a historic endurance challenge, combining high-speed racing with the legendary difficulty of the Nordschleife circuit.
