WHATSAPP is testing a new privacy feature that could change how disappearing messages work. The update introduces an “after reading” timer, allowing messages to delete only after the recipient opens them.

🔐 More Control Over Message Visibility🧪 Feature Still in Testing Phase💬 Why This Feature Matters

Currently, disappearing messages on WhatsApp start their countdown as soon as they are sent. This means messages can expire even if the recipient never reads them. The new feature aims to fix that limitation by starting the timer only after the message is viewed.

🔐 More Control Over Message Visibility

With this update, users will gain better control over how long their messages stay visible. Early reports suggest that users may choose different time limits, ranging from a few minutes to several hours after the message is read.

This change makes disappearing messages more practical, especially when sharing important or sensitive information.

🧪 Feature Still in Testing Phase

WhatsApp is currently testing this feature in beta versions of the app. It appears alongside improved privacy controls and a cleaner interface, making it easier for users to manage message settings.

Since the feature is still under development, there is no official release date yet.

💬 Why This Feature Matters

If launched, this update could improve how users handle private conversations. Messages will no longer disappear before being seen, and they won’t stay longer than necessary after being read.

This feature reflects WhatsApp’s ongoing effort to strengthen user privacy and provide more flexible communication tools.
