LUKE LITTLER spoiled the home crowd’s celebrations by defeating Jonny Clayton 6-4 in a thrilling Premier League final at Utilita Arena in Cardiff.
Littler broke Clayton in the opening leg, but ‘The Ferret’ hit back after Littler missed a 68 checkout. Clayton briefly took the lead with a bullseye finish, sending the crowd wild.
The 19-year-old champion responded in style, landing the ‘Big Fish’ 170 checkout to mirror his semi-final victory over Gerwyn Price. Both players held throw until the score was 3-3.
Littler nearly completed a nine-dart finish but missed double 15. He then regained control and secured a second break to move within a leg of victory. Littler clinched the match with a 52 checkout, earning his first Premier League win of 2026 and moving into the top four.
“It took me a little while to get settled in the tournament,” Littler said. “I’ve done really well tonight and I’m proud of myself. The table looks good now. Tonight I focused on myself.”
Clayton remains top of the table despite the loss, continuing to thrive in his Premier League return.
Earlier in the night, Luke Humphries beat Michael van Gerwen 6-1 for his opening Premier League win, while Clayton overcame Gian van Veen 5-4 to reach the semi-finals.
The semi-finals featured intense matches. Littler stormed past Price with clinical finishing, including a second ‘Big Fish’ 170 checkout, and Clayton overcame Humphries 6-4, ending the Welsh hopes of an all-local final.
Littler’s precision and composure ultimately spoiled the Welsh celebration in Cardiff, marking a major first success of his Premier League campaign.
