Arsenal’s 4-1 victory over Tottenham showed both their quality and their tactical intelligence. Spurs’ 3-5-2 formation under new boss Igor Tudor left spaces that Arsenal were quick to exploit.

In the first half, Arsenal were strongest down their right-hand side, where Bukayo Saka and Jurrien Timber combined effectively. Timber’s intelligent runs and overlapping support, paired with Saka’s confident attacking, made it difficult for Spurs to cope.

Tottenham tried to react by covering with players like Djed Spence, Xavi Simons, and Pape Matar Sarr, but the defensive gaps remained. Sarr’s one-on-one with Saka led to Arsenal’s opening goal, showing how Spurs’ system left players out of position.

Spurs did put in a strong effort, especially in the first half, but their pressing left space for Arsenal to counter-attack. Injuries and fatigue in the second half made it harder for Tottenham to cope.

Arsenal, however, did not just defend their lead. Even after going 2-1 up, they kept attacking, learning from recent matches where they had lost leads. Their forward play, patience, and ruthlessness highlighted why they are one of the best sides in the Premier League.

Overall, Arsenal’s ability to exploit Tottenham’s defensive weaknesses, combined with individual brilliance from Saka and Timber, made the difference in this North London derby.
