FIFA has fined the Israel Football Association 150,000 Swiss Francs after confirming violations related to discrimination and racist abuse.

The investigation followed a complaint from the Palestine Football Association, which raised concerns during the 74th FIFA Congress in 2024.

Findings of the Investigation

FIFA’s disciplinary committee reviewed the case and found that the Israel FA breached key rules. These included violations linked to offensive behavior and failure to uphold fair play standards.

The governing body confirmed breaches under its disciplinary code related to discrimination and racist conduct.

Sanctions and Requirements

In addition to the financial penalty, FIFA issued a formal warning about the association’s future behavior.

The Israel FA must also display a strong anti-discrimination message at its next three home matches. The banner will carry the message “Football Unites the World – No to Discrimination” alongside the association’s logo.

Officials must submit the design, size, and placement of the banner to FIFA for approval at least 15 days before each match.

Mandatory Reform Measures

FIFA has ordered the Israel FA to use one-third of the fine to fund a detailed plan. This plan must focus on tackling discrimination and preventing similar incidents in the future.

The decision could still change if the Israel FA chooses to appeal.

Additional Concerns Raised

The Palestine FA also raised an issue regarding clubs based in territories linked to another association participating in Israeli leagues.

FIFA decided not to take action on this matter. It stated that the legal status of the West Bank remains complex and unresolved under international law.

Match Cancellations

At the same time, the Palestine FA confirmed that upcoming friendly matches have been cancelled. Fixtures against Mauritania national football team and Benin national football team in Morocco will not go ahead due to ongoing regional tensions.
