Head coach John Mitchell had described the match as a major test of squad depth—and his team responded in dominant fashion.

Record Crowd Witnesses Dominance

A record crowd of 30,498 fans at Murrayfield Stadium watched England produce a relentless performance from start to finish.

The Red Roses controlled the game from the opening whistle, scoring 12 tries and maintaining intensity throughout all 80 minutes.

Strong Response After Mixed Performance

England entered the match following a less convincing win against Ireland. However, the team showed significant improvement, displaying sharper execution and better cohesion.

Despite several squad changes and missing key players, the team maintained its high standards and proved its strength in depth.

Squad Depth Tested by Absences

England faced multiple challenges heading into the match. Several experienced players were unavailable due to injuries, retirement, and other circumstances.

Even with a reshuffled lineup, the team delivered a complete performance. Younger and less experienced players stepped up, demonstrating the depth and quality within the squad.

Standout Performances on the Field

Captain Meg Jones led by example, scoring one of England’s tries and guiding the team with confidence. She praised the squad’s “relentless” approach after securing a 35th consecutive victory.

Maud Muir celebrated her 50th cap with a strong display, contributing powerful carries. Her replacement, Sarah Bern, continued her impressive form by scoring two tries.

Young players also made an impact, with debutants and rising talents stepping in seamlessly to maintain England’s dominance.

Setting the Standard in Women’s Rugby

The Red Roses once again showed why they remain the benchmark in women’s rugby. Their ability to adapt, perform under pressure, and maintain consistency sets them apart from other teams.

With momentum building, England will aim to carry this form into the remaining matches of the tournament.
