The attack took place at Ayser Çalık Secondary School in the Kahramanmaraş region. Officials confirmed that several others were injured, with some reported to be in critical condition.

Local governor Mukerrem Ünler said the attacker was also killed during the incident. Authorities have launched a full investigation into the motive behind the attack, which remains unclear.

🚨 Second shooting in two days

The incident comes just one day after another school shooting in southern Turkey, where 16 people were injured when a former student opened fire at a high school before taking his own life.

The back-to-back attacks have raised serious concern across the country and renewed debate about school safety and access to firearms.

🏫 What happened at the school

Reports from Turkish media suggest the attacker, believed to be a teenager, entered two classrooms during the incident. He was allegedly carrying multiple weapons and ammunition.

Authorities say the weapons may have belonged to the suspect’s father, a former police officer, who has since been detained for questioning.

Witnesses described scenes of panic inside the school, with students attempting to escape through windows as gunfire erupted. Videos verified by international media showed people fleeing the building and gathering outside in distress.

🇹🇷 National response

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expressed condolences following the attack, saying he wished a “speedy recovery” to those affected, including students, families, and teachers.

Crowds of worried parents gathered outside the school after news of the shooting spread, waiting for updates on their children.

Authorities continue to investigate how the attacker accessed the weapons and what led to the violence.
