The AI startup Cursor, co-founded by Pakistani entrepreneur Sualeh Asif, is making headlines after reports revealed a potential $60 billion acquisition deal with SpaceX.

This deal highlights the rising value of artificial intelligence tools that automate coding. Startups like OpenAI and Anthropic have also gained strong traction by offering similar solutions to developers.

According to official updates, SpaceX has secured the option to acquire Cursor later this year for $60 billion. If the acquisition does not go through, SpaceX will still pay $10 billion for their collaboration. The partnership aims to combine Cursor’s advanced coding platform with SpaceX’s powerful computing infrastructure.

The company stated that integrating Cursor’s tools with SpaceX’s “Colossus” supercomputer—featuring massive H100-equivalent processing power—could help build some of the most useful AI models in the world.

🚀 From Karachi to Silicon Valley Success

Sualeh Asif began his journey in Karachi, where he studied at Nixor College. He later attended the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he represented Pakistan in the International Math Olympiad from 2016 to 2018.

During his time at MIT, he co-founded Anysphere with fellow students. The company developed Cursor, an AI-powered code editor that helps developers write and modify code more efficiently.

Cursor has quickly become one of the fastest-growing AI startups. The company now reports over $1 billion in annualised revenue, showing strong demand for AI-driven development tools.

💡 Rapid Growth and Industry Adoption

The platform has gained widespread adoption among developers and major enterprises. Companies like Nvidia, Adobe, Uber, and Shopify use Cursor to streamline coding tasks and boost productivity.

In November 2025, Cursor reached a valuation of $29.3 billion after raising $2.3 billion in funding. Leading venture capital firms such as Accel and Coatue backed the funding round.

🌟 A Role Model for Pakistani Youth

Umar Saif praised Sualeh Asif’s journey, highlighting him as a strong example for young people in Pakistan. He emphasized the importance of innovation, education, and hard work over traditional paths to success.

Asif’s story reflects how talent and determination can lead to global impact. At just 26, he has already helped build a company that is transforming how developers write code.
