England white-ball captain Harry Brook and all-rounder Jacob Bethell received reprimands for their conduct on last year’s New Zealand tour. The incident occurred before a one-day international on November 1 in Wellington. A nightclub bouncer punched Brook during a night out that also involved fast bowler Josh Tongue.

The Cricket Regulator investigated and issued caution notices to Brook and Bethell for violating player conduct rules. Officials took no further action against Tongue, who trained with the squad but skipped the ODI. This tour preceded the Ashes, which Australia won 4-1.

Authorities fined Brook and issued a final warning over two months after the Sydney Test. Brook publicly apologized in January, admitting he initially lied to shield teammates from scrutiny. He noted fans had every right to feel annoyed.

England players faced widespread criticism for off-field behavior during the Ashes, including reports of heavy drinking in Noosa. Tongue stated he learned from the episode and now focuses solely on cricket. Rob Key, England’s managing director, noted during a Lord’s review meeting that cricket’s alcohol issues lack an easy solution.
