RONNIE O SULLIVAN has achieved another milestone by recording the highest-ever break in professional snooker history.

The seven-time world champion made a stunning 153 break during his quarter-final match at the World Open in Yushan. His remarkable performance helped him secure a dominant 5-0 victory over Ryan Day.

The record-breaking moment came early in the match. O’Sullivan capitalized on a free ball after leaving his opponent in a difficult position. He used the opportunity to treat the green as an extra red, which allowed him to extend the break beyond the traditional maximum.

He then continued with near-perfect precision, potting all 15 reds along with high-value colors and finishing with a complete clearance. This exceptional sequence pushed his total to 153, setting a new benchmark in professional snooker.

The previous highest break was 148, achieved by Jamie Burnett in 2004. O’Sullivan’s new record surpasses that mark and adds another highlight to his legendary career.

In standard play, a maximum break is 147. However, when a free ball is awarded, players can score higher. The theoretical maximum break is 155, though it has not yet been recorded in official competition.

Following his achievement, O’Sullivan expressed appreciation for the support he received from fans. Fellow professionals also praised his performance, with Neil Robertson calling him one of the greatest players the sport has ever seen.

O’Sullivan now advances to the semi-finals, where he will face Wu Yize. His latest achievement reinforces his reputation as one of the most influential figures in snooker history.
