David Moyes knows the Premier League’s road well, with 745 games managed and a keen understanding of winning away.

Since returning to Everton 14 months ago, the 62-year-old has guided the Toffees to the second-best away record in the league, behind only Arsenal. Everton remain unbeaten away since mid-December and have four wins in their last five road games.

This weekend, Everton travel to the Emirates Stadium with a chance to challenge league leaders Arsenal. They currently sit eighth in the Premier League, just five points from fifth place, which could lead to Champions League qualification.

Everton’s rise is remarkable considering they were hovering just above the relegation zone when Moyes returned. Their away form has been a key driver, with nine unbeaten matches out of 10 and just one loss since October.

Former Everton midfielder Leon Osman believes the Blues can trouble Arsenal. “This year, it’s different. Arsenal will be nervous knowing they have to keep winning,” Osman said.

Everton have shown they can win at the toughest grounds. In November, they beat Manchester United 1-0 at Old Trafford, giving Moyes his first away win against his former club. In January, they ended Aston Villa’s 11-game home winning streak with another 1-0 victory. Most recently, they won at Newcastle United, who had just challenged Barcelona at St James’ Park.

Osman added, “Arsenal is now an opportunity for Everton. They’ll be confident going away with no pressure.” With their road form, Everton could play a decisive role in the title race.
